Xiaomi SU7 Driven - Every Bit As Good As They Said It Would Be
The Xiaomi SU7 arrives with enormous expectations, but it just happens to be every bit as good as they said it would be.
Not many cars are launched to the kind of fanfare that the Xiaomi SU7 was. One of China's largest and most famous consumer electronics companies, and one that isn't banned around the world, Xiaomi has a following in China like few others so when the SU7 was announced the eyes of a nation were on the company.
But could the company, complete newbies to the car making game with an enormous new self-owned facility and deep pockets, succeed where Apple and Dyson had failed, and where Huawei don't yet dare to tread? On the evidence of this drive, absolutely. The SU7 is already...

BYD Song L Driven - A Chinese Car That's Actually Fun To Drive
Просмотров 44 тыс.Месяц назад
Chinese electric cars have proven their overall competence as products, but they're rarely much fun to drive. The BYD Song L is one such exception. Not only is it stunning to look at, it delivers on the thrills behind the wheel too, feeling far more connected to the driver than pretty much every other Chinese car out there. And no, we didn't think we'd be saying that for BYD either. The Song L ...

The Zeekr 009 was one of China's original fully electric MPVs and remains the most luxurious. The days of the all-conquering Toyota Alphard are numbered. The 009, with its iconic chrome grille, might be the most ostentatious design in the history of Chinese car design, but it's not without substance. A six-seater people mover with an uber-luxurious second row, the 009 truly feels like business ...

Stunning. Looks amazing. Looking forward to your Shanghai Auto Show video
Should be another cracker. Bit of a while off yet though.
how many cars can you copy? xiaomi: yes
Haha. It's really not that bad. There's a lot of influence in there, but it's quite a stunning thing in the metal.
Rip off. Copy. How long until it catches fire?
Who did you rip that comment off? I've read that a million times before.
@@InsideChinaAuto you are living under a rock if you haven't seen the videos and seeing the reports
@mariolevasseur731 I've seen plenty of reports of EVs catching fire, but I've also seen 3 million of them sold per year in China. The amounts are miniscule, and if you're so well up on reports, you'd know petrol cars are 19 times more likely to catch fire than electric cars, or has your tin foil hat slipped over your eyes?
The European model will have the speed restrictions on it.
Let's see.
I think that, for this traffic, it already surpasses FSD.
It'll be very interesting to compare. Got an update on the Huawei system video coming soon. Wait until you see that.
Got to say the design and detail throughout this car is seriously impressive!
You should see the other cars on the channel.
I think you are being politically correct by using the word inspired, it's a copy and paste job I am Porsche will be pissed off.
Porsche will likely be more concerned with their falling sales in China. Side by side they're not similar at all but they've borrowed lots of details that are not the same but similar, enough to give an overall 'feel' that it's quite Porsche-like.
@@InsideChinaAuto well sales aside I seen your video and if it didn't say Xiaomi, I instantly thought that's a Porsche, not only that they even pinched the colour as to emphasis the Porsche theme.
@@acelectricalsecurity Their chief engineer is huge Porsche fan publicly on social media. What can I say.
@@InsideChinaAuto Are they planning on selling this in Europe or any western country where Porsche could make a legal case against them. Because there's no chance in China, others have tried in the past.
@acelectricalsecurity Land Rover actually won against Land Wind in China, and I believe another brand that copied the X5 also were ordered to buy back and destroy all their cars, though you very rarely might see one still. I don't think Porsche could win against this, it's simply not enough of a copy. It's not a direct like for like. Lights aren't the same front or rear, interior isn't the same, it's just details here and there and I don't think you can build a case on that.
Wumao gonna wumao.
Coming from a guy called Dylan? Haha. OK
@@InsideChinaAuto what?

@@InsideChinaAuto no, if telling me my name is somehow supposed to be taken as an insult, I just literally don't get it, that's all.

do they have to pay porshe the same way lexus had to pay mercedes
Highly doubt it.
Good review mate, much better than allot of channels
Glad you enjoyed it.
Mclaren type shiii
Not quite as quick as that but hints of it in the headlights.
I'm a Brit expat in China. I make descent money and my cost of living is low. So I want to treat myself to a luxury car, something I could never afford back In the UK (at least not brand new). I'm 33, married, no children yet. So I'm not sure If I'm the sort of demographics Zeekr had in mind when designing this car. And I never really liked MPVs. Yet for some reason I'm really hooked into this! It's just absurd value for money. 470k RMB gets you 790hp (hypercar level a few years ago!), bently like interior, better than bently technology and features, advanced battery with fast charging and long range. It's absolutely bonkers! It may look dorky, but it's hard to resist the power and luxury of this mirical of modern automotive engineering (esp for the price!). The only non-Chinese EV I was considering is the IX m60. WHich cost 680-700k at some dealers. Haven't sat on one yet, but I was told it has a lot of naked plastic interior trim. And compared to Chinese EV's, it's very austere in features.
Pfft, wouldn't bother with a BMW if you're in China mate, almost everything else is better value for money and a better car overall. These 009s are badass though and the updates have made it an even better car than the one I reviewed here.
@@InsideChinaAuto Does the latest 009 finally have a HUD and massage function for the front seat? The only downside seems to be that there is no English UI in the Chinese domestic market versions sadly I'm also waiting for the Fangchenbao 8.
@energiam880 35.96-inch HUD on the new model, and heating, ventilation and massage functions as standard on the front two rows.
Happy to stumble upon your channel. Your reviews of the various cars are very informative, nothing is left out. For a novice guy regarding the EV cars, you provide accurate and detailed info leaving nothing out. Amazing coverage. Thank you so much. As for this ZEEKR 001, you sold me. Wondering when it comes to Thailand.
Glad you've been enjoying the channel. The 001 is indeed a wonderful car, even more since the update as this video is a bit old now. No idea on Thai sales yet but I'd suggest next year might be a potential. They're taking the X and 009 there soon and I think demand for the 001 will be even higher than those so they'll have to think about it soon.
I waited so long for this and now there is a light on the horizon.
Getting there slowly. Should be a hit.
Lioking forward to driving the Samsung Galaxy 'Fast as Flip" with Smart Folding Roof and OLED windscreen
Kind of like that idea except the windscreen bit.
hey, why dont rename this to "Inside China Auto Propaganda"?
Come for the propaganda, stay for the salt in the comments.
Xiaomi SU 7 Pro 38 000 ! Tesla Model S Plaid 107 000 ! Porsche Taycan Turbo 179 000 ! Il y a une couille dans le potage !
Exactly.
The responses all sound like bots. Just saying. So the real story is a toxic dump that people are just going to ignore. And yes, these are a lot more toxic than gasoline powered cars.
Only if the batteries are leaking and guess what, they're not.
Gimme a 2006 Renault Twingo with low mileage. It will probably cost about 1/50 of the SU7, and will do pretty much everything I need. I would have no range anxiety, either.
Love the Twingo, but swap it for the original. That said, no range anxiety, but reliability anxiety in spades.
outside nice
It's the best part.
I hope they rolled out a Polestar version of it so that we can have it in the States.
Wouldn't that be nice!
I would buy that car no problem. Very nice motor!
Lovely car. Can't take your eyes off it.
nice but dont like the front wing not lining up with the rest of the side panels i know it design fashion but not for me looks like it been in a crash and fix up on the cheap
I'll have to take a second look at that.
I am very hyped to see this in Europe, but why? Why can't they so something easy and without having to navigate the touch screen to operate windows? Very big mistake not allowing regen braking to take the car to full stop.
Actually the windows can be controlled by switches on the door, and the regen can be selected to either stop or crawl, but the Chinese government are stopping the 'come to a stop' function on future cars for some reason.
@@InsideChinaAuto I need to watch the video again about those windows. hahaha Yes, I understood that about the chinese government.
Please do the new ET7!
Will see if NIO will send me one. Got something even better right now though.
@@InsideChinaAuto NIO??
@@ssjj005 Nope, an AVATR 12.
@@InsideChinaAuto uhhhh Most of us want to know about NIO.....
@@ssjj005 Then you need to put down your shares and get some taste in design. NIO will return soon, as well as a visit of their factory already recorded.
Mean fail cos hand holding steering all not good. But I can see good small short self driving vehicles.
By law you have to in China, that's the only reason you need to. They haven't opened to hands-free yet
@@InsideChinaAuto I understand
I would not trust a Xiaomi car. Not because it's Chinese but the experiences I've had with their products. Usually they work unbelievably good for the price but after a couple of months they started having issues. I'd rather get a byd, mg etc.
Better off with a Zeekr if reliability is what you're after.
thx for the video :) I tested it yesterday : ruclips.net/video/pGGaPnoAHEU/видео.html
Quiet
Quiet at what?
Quickly got fed up of hearing Porsche!!!
Didn't we all.
What a great looking, cool little car. It has a bit of Cupra about the exterior, but I have a bit more faith about BYD's batteries and longevity over the Volkswagen group at this stage. And then there's the price... 😮
Really loved this little thing. They need to start selling it in Europe pronto.
Dont be a bad car journalist, learn to pronounce the brand names, its not PORSH, its PORSH-EH. Second, dont repeat yourself so much, we get it, its inspired by Porsche, say it one time and if you must repeat it, draw a comparisons to a particular Porsche model that you think inspired certain design. I am yet to hear a journalist point out the obvious headlight design inspiration from Mclaren. Its just so apparent and yet you are all just repeating each other about the Porsche inspiration which is not even that prominent, except for the steering wheel design. Outside of SU7 looks NOTHING like Taycan, apart from the shoulders on the rear of the car.
Well firstly, where I come from, it's Porsche, not Porsch-eh, just like it's Nike, not Nike-ee. Second, as I've pointed out in other comments, there are nods to the Taycan and general Porsche design language everywhere, in the shape of the window, the side sculpting, the rear arch, the same style door handles, the ice cube headlights, the overall shape of the bonnet, and with the steering wheel boost button. Also, the headlamps aren't particularly Mclaren-shaped, Mclarens have almost triangular headlamps, not almonds. Sorry was that olmonds or ahlmands?
@@InsideChinaAuto Most people in English speaking countries shorten it to porsh, without "eh" in the end, not because its right, but sounds better to them and the main reason is they dont care about pronouncing, kind of like how alumiNUM was born. Porsche is a German surname and it should be pronounced as close as possible to their way of doing it because this way the line of confusion is maintained at the distance. I know this is not going to happen, but its because of the collective levels of understanding and public figures that help embedding the twisted version into the culture. On the subject of design i told you to not be sloppy and point out the exact model of the Porsche that you see the resemblance of in the design, i got it from the video all the things you are typing. The inside of the headlights on the SU7 do remind me of the Taycan, but the overal design clearly came from the Mclaren 750/765 or something. I would say the whole nose of the car resembles Mclaren, which was my first thought when i saw the car. It appears to you more triangular because its a more agressive design for a more agressive and premium car, the subtle lines of the SU7 headlights would destroy the look of any modern supercar. If you deny they took the inspiration from Mclaren, we have nothing further to discuss, you are either a part of some crazy conspiracy, or more likely just $#%t at your job, which makes much more sense for so many reasons.
@paradoxofgodexisting Haha, you're welcome to be aggressive mate if you think that's necessary. One of us has driven the car and and seen it in person, the other is judging from pictures. Looks are always subjective. Someone said it looked like a Tesla. What can I say? As for the naming thing, I'm sure there's a tonne of things you say 'wrong' from other languages but I put mine in videos. It's funny that you should bring up aluminum since most Americans say Porsche and Nike the way you'd like it to be said. All I'll say is, when I lived in Germany, they all called me Reinfort as opposed to what my actual name was, and half of them spelled my name with a C instead of a K, so I'm not that inclined to give two sh!ts about pronouncing Porsche exactly as they'd want. It's not revenge, it's just what it is. When you start calling VW 'fau-vay' I might consider doing as you request.

Me too.
I was pretty dissapointed with build quality and materials on the SU7. There's exposed metal and the interior feels very plasticy, especially the steering wheel. The showroom car I looked at had obviously had a lot of people getting in and out but the centre console, seats and doors were really worn ad dirty in several places so I'd guess materials aren't of the best quality. I'd definitely take an nio et5/et5t or zeekr 001 over the max version, maybe the base versions are a better prospect.
It definitely feels cheaper than a Zeekr, that's true. I think they had planned at a higher price and when their finance guys told them it wouldn't sell for that price, they pulled a few niceties out. That's my hypothesis. As for the ET5, the one I tested was very poorly made with flexible headliner, a centre armrest that came off if you wiggled it a little, and some of the plastics just felt a bit poor.
I passed this car 2 times in Poland on a highway. I was like what the hell is this car? At first I thought it was brand new Kona, but I knew something was wrong as it looked so much bigger than Hyundai. Then I saw it up close at the mall. It had Belarusian plates so I figured it must be Chinese. I googled " luxurious Chinese SUV" and your review popped up. And this is how I got here heh. This car looks awesome. I wish it was available in Poland. 😊
Haha. Lucky Pole, or Belarussian. This is a cracking car, one of the best out there. Great to have you find us. There's a tonne more interesting cars to see.
My next car will be most likely Chinese. Byd seal and zeekr are awsome
